Above: An interview with our Founder telling our backstory
Founder's Story
Will, the founder of We’ve Network, doubted his abilities for many years, due to the Neurological differences he experiences. His lifelong journey living with dyslexia, disfluency (stuttering), and Autism shaped who he is, the way he sees the world, and inspires the work he does. Throughout his life, Will has struggled with sensory differences, social awkwardness, staying focused, reading, writing, and speaking clearly. As a result, he became shy and introverted as a child, and as an adult has experienced anxiety and depression.
Will's mother saved workbook pages from when he was learning to write his name. These pages show that without knowing any different, Will would write his entire name mirror-image backward because of his dyslexia. In grade school, he was still struggling to recognize all the letters of the alphabet. He was embarrassed about the way that he spoke. Will was terrified of being asked to speak in class and he had very few friends. At that time, small-town schools in rural Oregon were not equipped to adequately serve special needs students. Several times throughout his education Will's mother pulled him out of school and educated him at home. She did this to give him the individual attention he needed to learn. Thanks to his mother's patience, Will was able to learn to read and write. He would not have graduated from high school without her support.
Will knows the social stigma of being ostracized for being "different". To make a meaningful and successful life for himself, he had to develop the strengths of his neuro-divergence and adapt to the impairments he experiences. Through his determination to succeed, Will developed the We've Network Approach. He would not have achieved this if key people in his life had defined him by his limitations. Will has created a satisfying life for himself and we believe you can too. We also know how much a little support can help.
Let We've Network provide that support for you!
